Introducing Drs. Michael & Jenna Fitchett

Kennett Square Chiropractors, Dr. Mike & Dr. Jenna

Dr. Jenna Fitchett

I never really thought I would want to be a human chiropractor. I wanted to be a vet, but the idea of giving shots and dealing with sick animals all day didn't appeal to me. I then wanted to be an animal chiropractor. However, when I got to school I realized how much I loved interacting with my patients and getting to know them. I quickly realized that human chiropractic was where I wanted to be.

My father, Dr. Michael Fitchett, began his practice when I was six years old. By the time I was twelve, I was answering phones and talking to patients. I saw how much fun my dad had every day at work, and I loved hanging out at the office. I was always happy at work, and I loved seeing how happy the patients were. Once I was old enough to make a real decision about what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, I never even considered anything else.

I went to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. Palmer was the first chiropractic school, established in 1895. I was very worried about going so far from my family, but I absolutely loved Iowa. The quality of education was also remarkable, as much as we complained we attended class 40 hours a week and enjoyed it! I had a chance in July 2006 to go to Vietnam for three weeks. We set up free clinics to help the Vietnamese who have no health care to speak of. It was an amazing experience, and I would love to go back as a faculty instructor. While in Vietnam I adjusted many small children and infants, which reinforced my love for treating children.

Chiropractic is much like the dentist, or getting the oil changed in your car. In a perfect world everyone would come in for maintenance care to help prevent a serious injury. However, we have responsibilities beyond ourselves, and that isn't always possible. Luckily, we understand. We are here to help your body function at its potential. We want to work together with you to reach your individual health goals.

My fiance, Charlie Ennis, and I met in high school and live with our dog Sage. Charlie does construction with his father, and I work with my father at the office. As you can tell, our families are very important to us and we love spending time with them. I ride horses during the week as much as possible, and on the weekends we like to take bike rides and spend time on the Chesapeake Bay.

I have been adjusted regularly since Dr. Mike graduated in 1988. Previously I had suffered from debilitating earaches. Also, I had many falls from horses growing up, including breaking my tailbone and tearing ligaments in my lower back. I contribute my current pain free body to regular chiropractic care. I ride horses as much as I can, and I go to the Y almost daily. I played rugby in college, but consider myself retired. I am hardly ever sick, and I can count on one hand the number of times I have had antibiotics in my life. Chiropractic has enabled me to be one of the healthiest and pain-free people I know.

Please consider safe and natural chiropractic care for you and your loved ones. Give our office a call or e-mail me using the link below and let's arrange a time to talk about how chiropractic can help you.

Dr. Michael Fitchett

I started out in school for pre-med. While in school I realized that I didn’t agree with the sickness model of health care, waiting for sickness then fixing the symptoms. I realized I wanted to keep people healthy from the inside, so I switched to psychology. After six years I was introduced to chiropractic and I realized it was what I had been looking for all along. I immediately went back to school.

I attended Pennsylvania College of Straight Chiropractic in Philadelphia, PA. This was not only the top adjusting school in the nation, but close to home and family. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at school, and spent several months after graduation teaching in the clinic. One of my big moments was when I adjusted my daughter and her ear infections disappeared. She never had another one. At this point I truly realized that chiropractic works for ailments besides back pain, and I knew I had chosen the right profession.

I would love to see everyone, including all of my patients, adopt the emerging wellness model of healthcare. Instead of the traditional sickness model (waiting until you are sick and subluxated), come in and be sure you are as healthy as you can be.

I have a wonderful wife, Jacquie, and I have three great kids, Dr. Jenna, Tim, and Lucas. I compete in Brazilian Jui-jitsu and train about three times a week. I was the National Grappling Association Champion for my weight/age class in 2000 and 2001, and I teach Jui-jitsu at a local martial arts school. On the days that I don’t train I like to work out at the gym. I try to maintain a nutritious and active lifestyle. I have found that if I maintain an overall healthy and physical attitude, the bad seems to even out with the good. On the weekends I enjoy cruising the Chesapeake, bike riding, and spending time with my family and friends.

Drs. Mike & Jenna Asks some important questions of interest to Kennett Square residents - Chiropractor Kennett Square Drs. Mike & Jenna Asks...

Will chiropractic adjustments make my spine too loose?
No. Only the spinal joints that are fixated and "locked up" receive attention. The occasional spinal joint that moves too much is passed over so weakened muscles and ligaments can strengthen and heal.
What's the purpose of a surgeon's mask?
When I ask most people in Kennett Square this, most think it protects the patient from the doctor's germs. But it's so porous it does little to prevent the passage of germs. We chiropractors don't bother with masks.
